Digital New Zealand 2022 (DNZ22)
Digital New Zealand 2022 (DNZ22) is the latest research in a series spanning 13 years the IGEA has undertaken in conjunction with Bond University to determine who plays games in New Zealand, why they play games, how are games used beyond entertainment and the general attitude towards games.
The theme of DNZ22 is Connected by Games and the research highlights how games connected New Zealanders to each other in an effort for people to find joy during lockdowns and periods of self-isolation. Playing video games throughout the pandemic has not only been an important social connector and form of respite, games have provided benefits such as emotional and social wellbeing, education, employment and made a contribution to the digital economy
