Mighty Kingdom & IGEA Graduate Program Guidelines
At IGEA’s 2020 Education Summit Mighty Kingdom CEO Phil Mayes gave a well-received talk on the studio’s graduate program. Graduate Programs are still unusual in the Australian games industry – yet they are so powerful that they made hundreds of people consider moving to another city to work for Mighty Kingdom. Since its start in 2018, the studio’s graduate program has proven to be an effective mechanism to provide a safe space for industry experience within the gaming world and attracted a wide and diverse talent pool ready to be future leaders.
We have subsequently teamed up with Mighty Kingdom to work on guidelines for studios interested in starting their own program.
This document explains what exactly a graduate program is, its mechanisms and aims, and it offers advice for those studios that want to start their own programs – and highlights MK’s experiences and processes to offer guidance.
