IGEA is delighted to announce that we will be celebrating the Australian games industry at the Australian Game Developer Awards (AGDAs) 2021 as an in-person, live event on Wednesday October 6th.
Our intention is to also stream the awards presentation in order to showcase the incredible Australian talent to the largest audience possible and ensure an accessible night for all.
We were so thrilled with the immense quality of games, studios and individuals that were nominated for awards last year and we can’t wait to see who and what will be revealed in 2021.
The award categories will look a little different this year, as we continue to grow and change with the feedback we receive from our community.
This year the categories will be:
Excellence in Art
Excellence in Gameplay
Excellence in Narrative
Excellence in Audio
Excellence in Accessibility
Excellence in AR/VR
Excellence in Serious Games
Excellence in Mobile Games
Excellence in Ongoing Games (Games as a Service)
Excellence in Emerging Games
Game of the Year
Studio of the Year
The Raising the Bar Award (the thematic award)
The Adam Lancman Award
The Rising Star Award
The criteria for the categories will also be updated based on feedback and will once again be made publicly available in the interests of transparency.
We’ve also made some changes to the process that should help streamline things and ensure that our judges’ opinions are heard.
Now, before we get ahead of ourselves, we need to recognise that the AGDAs are only made possible by the hard work of our judging panel.
If you’re interested in being a part of this incredible judging panel and helping to recognise and reward Australian talent, please apply to this year’s judging panel by filling out our:
